Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:

Nasa is relieved to find Tsukasa, but stunned when she gives him her wedding band. The forgotten promise Nasa made to Tsukasa made her happy. Though she understands it is not Nasa’s fault that he forgot, she’s afraid of telling him the truth again. As such, she decided to end it rather than lose Nasa if he should reject her.

Nasa stops her, deciding to tell her about outer space. He points out that expansion will eventually cause all mater to disappear. However, a strong force brought Tsukasa and him together. Though eventually they too will end some day, he begs her to not let go at this time. Further, he vows to never let her go.

Tsukasa is moved to tears and embraces her husband. As they hug, Nasa further promises that no matter who Tsukasa really is, he will make her wish come true. At that moment, he seems to have recovered his lost memories.

Thoughts/Review:

I have some mixed feelings about Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 146. But at least the separation of Tsukasa and Nasa appears to be coming to an end.

Tsukasa’s Reasoning

I’ve been pretty hard on Tsukasa after she left Nasa, just because he didn’t remember some promise he made as he was on death’s door. With Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 146, Tsukasa gives her reason for leaving. I can understand the fear of loss making one not want to take a risk. But in this case, I feel it shows an incredible lack on Tsukasa’s part.

As Nasa is literally dying, he learns about Tsukasa (I’m assuming her immortality) and makes her a promise, sealed with a kiss. This act from a stranger (assuming Nasa isn’t a reincarnated being whom she recognizes at some level), which makes her immediately putting her trust in him more of a risk.

However, she’s lived with Nasa for a few months now. She knows what kind of man he is. As such, she should absolutely know that Nasa will always accept her, even if his memory is gone. After all, if he did it once when they were strangers, then he’d do it again.

Deus Ex Machina Coming?

I have to confess, the ending of Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 146 made me roll my eyes a bit. I want Nasa to remember things for sure. But his apparent just remembering out of the blue just didn’t sit right with me. I would have been fine with Kaguya doing something (although she seems tech based, not mystical based). Or, I would have been more fine with Tsukasa recounting things and Nasa grabs more fragments.

I suppose Hata-sensei is saying “the power of love” is what caused Nasa to get his memories back after he convinced Tsukasa to stand by him. Again, not my cup of tea, but there doesn’t seem like there were many good options for Nasa to regain his memories.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 146 is not a bad chapter at all. However, I wasn’t totally satisfied with Tsukasa’s excuse for running away. Further, I’m not jazzed by Nasa’s apparent instant memory recovery. But at least Nasa and Tsukasa are together again.
